The Marissa Recreation Area was designed and built
in the late 1950's by local residents. It consist of two lakes, a nine
hole golf course, camping area, a cottage/residence area as well as picnic
shelters and areas.
The North lake has a paved boat ramp and dock.
Because of it’s size boats are limited to 30HP. An area on the northwest
shore serves as the camp area for the local Boy Scout troop 327.
The South lake is the larger of the two
but is limited to electric motors only. It’s southeast shore features the
residential area. Several attractive year around homes have been built
there as well as seasonal cabins. On the southwest shore is the camping
area.
The nine hole golf course occupies the east boundary
of the property and wraps around to the south. This compact but challenging
course is very popular and the "Pro Shop" is always a great place to relax
after a round.
Several picnic areas surround the South Lake and
are a relaxing spot to spend a summer afternoon. Fishing from the bank
or boat is always rewarding and maybe even try a ripe persimmon right off
one of the many trees in the picnic areas.
