Whites Lumber has been in operation at 116 W. Church St. since 1881.  This building was erected after the big fire of 1902 destroyed their operation and three blocks of the business district.  The building was extensively remodeled in 1960 but again in 1979 fell victim to fire and was rebuilt in its present form.
