The Marissa Police Department located at 314 B E. Spring Street is staffed by five full time officers and three part time officers. The Police Department provides  twenty four hour police coverage for the village which has a population of 2600 persons.  We also provide backup coverage to surrounding municipalities as well as assisting the State Police and the St. Clair County Sheriff Department.

The staff of the department consist of the Chief of Police, Sergeant, full time Code Enforcement Officer, Juvenile Officer, K-9 Officer, and Patrol Officers.  It is the duty of all department personnel to answer emergency calls as well as his other specifically assigned duties.

The Police Department is committed to the prevention of crime, the apprehension of violators, as well as traffic control to maintain a safe environment for families to raise their children.

The Department works directly with the community's youth by assigning a juvenile officer to visit our schools on a regular basis. These visits provide an opputuity for one on one counseling with troubled youths.  In addition, the Department has an Explorer Scout Program that provides education and training to any scout wishing to pursue a career in law enforcement.

As in many communities code enforcement has become an integral part of the police department. This service provides assistance to the village government in maintaining a clean and well maintained community.

The Marissa Police Department welcomes any suggestions that will assist un in serving the community.  Feel free to call any officer at (618) 295-3022 or fax 295-3693.
